DIY - Beckley's room

So... i am STILL trying to settle in to our new home...
seems like an endless task!
i have completed a few DIY projects in Beckley's room...

BOOKCASE

before

after

we bought this shelf at costco for Beckley's room.
my mom and i decided to spruce it up a bit...
so, we added some striped paper to the back.
i love it!
don't you?

ROCKING CHAIR

before
(this picture was taken not long after we moved in,
so ignore the chaos...
just wanted to show a before of the rocking chair)

after
(this picture is a bit blurry but, you get the idea)

we inherited this rocking chair from some friends in palo alto,
but decided to paint it to match Beck's room a little better.

BECK BANNER

see the banner behind the new & improved rocking chair?

well, that was a "da kine" surf banner that my sister-in-law Joy
didn't want anymore...
so, we cut off the bottom part that read "da kine"
and put "BECK" instead.
you like?

STAR HAT HOOKS

i also bought these little star hooks at Hobby Lobby
(a new favorite store of mine)
and painted them brown
to hang all of Beckley's hats on.
(although he has to wear his new "hat"/helmet
for the next 3 months!
so, these hats won't be worn for awhile :-(
i can't wait until i can hang the helmet to rest
on one of these cute hooks!)

NURSERY RHYME PICTURE

we bought this old (1882!!!) nursery rhyme print
on Portabello Road in Nottinghill
while in London a few months back.
so, i had it framed to hang in Beckley's room...
although as you can see,
i have YET to actually hang it :-)

although, i didn't really "do" much for these cute stars...
my friend Julie made them for me
& we just stuck them on the wall...
i thought i'd include them on this posting as well.
aren't those stars just too cute?
thanks Julie!

so, i think Beckley's room is FINALLY ALMOST done...

now... for the rest of the house!!!...

I haven't hung anything in my house yet. It makes me sad, but I don't even know where to start. You are light-years ahead of me. :)

Very fun! I want to do the same thing to a few of our bookshelves. What a cute room.
