calling all super heroes...

our little twins came into the world early and small

(6 weeks early.  McKay weighed 4lbs 5 oz and Crew was 3lbs 15 oz),

but you'd never know it now.

Crew & McKay are our little super heroes!

so, we celebrated their first year with a 

super hero party!!!

don't you just love this invite?

our good friend/brother, Daniel Hedlund made it for us.

 we had the party at a pavillion in our neighborhood

(it was perfect... other than the bugs that kept trying to eat all our food.  gross!  

i guess no matter how much you plan ahead, you can't control everything)

 

lucky for me, halloween candy is already out...

so, i was able to find some super hero themed candy to put on the tables.

we had a bunch of things for our super hero guests to do at the party...

a ball pit

a super hero photo booth

 the food.

we did a BBQ

(hamburgers, hot dogs, salads, chips & watermelon)

the beverage table...

and, the dessert table...

i made all the cakes & cupcakes,

but bought the cupcake toppers from etsy

(BsquaredDesign.  she was FABULOUS to work with & SUPER fast!)

we gave out super hero "energy snacks"

which were actually Captain Crunch berries.

there was also a wall of photos of the boys over the past year,

but we didn't seem to get a picture of it... oh well :-)

(i had BIG dreams for this party)

i'd definitely call the party a super success!

the twins don't actually turn 1

until September 29th,

but my mom was in town the past couple weeks,

so...

on saturday,

we had the twins first birthday party.

the theme was SUPER HEROES!

it seemed the perfect theme for my strong little babes!

the best year

as the twin's first birthday approaches

(on 9.29)...

people often tell me that they can't believe they are already a year old...

to which i usually respond something like

 "i can!  it was the longest year of my life!"

and, although it was a long and hard year...

it was also THE BEST YEAR!

tonight we went to the Utah State Fair (more on that later)...

at one point, we were watching some ridiculous cirque show...

beck was sitting on my lap

& he says:

ha.

i just yove him.

(actually, he was mostly a pain today...

but isn't it weird that a kiss & saying something funny

totally makes up for 500 tantrums he threw today!?)

i LOVE to run.

i seriously love to run.

it makes me happy.  so happy.

sweetest boy.

beckley and i play this game...

it goes like this...

mom:  "i love you"

beck:  "no, i love you"

mom:  "no, i love you more"

beck:  "no, i love you more"

mom:  "no, i love you the most"

beck:  "no, i love you the most"

 it starts like this, but can go on much longer...

and, isn't always that orderly...

sometimes, we through in some

"no, i love daddy"

or 

"no, i love the babes"...

i LOVE this sweet game.

not, sure when or how it started,

but, i'm so glad it did.

today,

we were playing this game...

beck said "no, i love you more"

then i came back with "no, i love you the most"...

beck paused for a second...

then he said: "no, i love you the monkeys"

at that, we both broke into laughter.

i guess "the monkeys" tops "the most".

who knew?  my beckley boy did.

and, he has been saying it all day long.

half crazy, half marathon

 today i ran my first half marathon

(and my first race in over five years)

it was called

The Half Crazy Half Marathon!
(it was a last minute decision...
i entered it on the Thursday before,
so just 2 days before the race)

here i am with a few girlfriends before the race.

I actually was the first girl!

my time was 1:34.

it was a fun race...

but, there was a pretty brutal hill that lasted miles 4-8!
